Copyright Gets Religion

Earlier this year a court ruled that translations of early Christian homilies from the original Greek to English were subject to copyright protection. It reminded me of an earlier dispute, some 1400 years earlier, between St. Columba and another monk over a copy of a psalster – possibly one of the first copyright disputes – that one ended up with 3,000 casualties.
